@benito, you added an extra layer to that interesting Midwest playoff process. The winning #2 vs losing #1 game decides 2nd and 3rd seeds. Winning #3 vs Losing #2 is for 4th seed. The 4th place teams don't play in the playoff.

You should take a look at the MidWest division 1 TU championships. They are interesting as well. But it is for the CR crossovers/round of 32. it is set up for the two divisions to play each other. 1 v 1, winner is number 1 seed. 2 v 2, winner plays losing 1 for the 2 seed. 3 v 3, winner plays losing 2 seed for number 3 seed. 4 v 4, winner plays losing 3 for the 4 seed. Losing 4 is eliminated.

A 5th seed can go to nationals as PCRFU #1, but it's unlikely. In order to do so, the following must happen: a) #5 beats #4 in Round 1 b) Out of #1, 2, and 3 (playing 8, 7 and 6, respectively), at least two must lose in Round 1. c) the #5 team wins their Round 2 match against either #1, #2, #3 or #6. So any team can go to nationals by winning one or two games. #1 and #2 (Portland and Fresno) only need to win one game and control their own destiny as far as taking the top or second seed. #3-6 must win two games and need help to take one of the top two seeds. #7 and #8 must win two games and can only take the third seed. Simple enough?

Ya, u have to think about it for a minute. If the 1 and 2 seeds win on Saturday they are in the sweet 16. If the 5 seed wins on Saturday they have to win on Sunday also and they will get the last seed out of 3. Your second message was right.

Sorry, I re-read that and it sounds like if a 5th seed wins, the go the playoffs but they would go in as the 3rd seed. Is that right?

As a Colorado rugger, maybe I missed something - So even if the number 5 seed wins the tournament, they still dont get to go the playoffs because they were seeded lower than a team they beat in the playoffs? That sounds stupid even as I type it. Do I have that wrong?
