Man I think it would be awesome if the USA U20 team played a combined Highland/United/Cal/BYU mixed side of U20's then I guess we would see if the right selections were made. Plus that would be a blast to watch. How do we make this happen? I would pay to see it!

Good luck to the USA Boys and the Coaching Staff. My son, Cam, had the honor to be named Captain of the USA 2009 Squad that lost a heart breaker in the Final, (in the final moments to Romania), in Nairobi, Kenya. Cameron certainly came back a changed young man, and he learned so much (in a positive way)from that experience. I know his rugby skills and leadership took a significant leap forward from that competition. Go USA! Here's to great success for all, win or lose!

Only 3 of the pool are from the Midwest one is from the Academy not sure of his background and one is from a good D2 Menes program in Grand Rapids and he also been looked at by the USA 7's team and the third is from UW Whitewater which is currently in the Collegiate D2 Final Four. I guess those players are not getting the training that your boys are or the level of competition because they play elsewhere. Also when you look at the list all the players except 2 play at a D1 College or Men's Club or higher. The 2 Midwest players are both in D2 in their respective leagues. Only one is in HS? I cannot speak to what the coaches want or look at or why they look at certain individuals. This is a member driven organization go to the top the staff have to answer to someone.

I guess the best thing to do would be to combine the United and Highland teams and then fill out the side with the BYU/Utah/Cal freshman. This constant complaining on this forum about who gets pick and the percieved shunning of certain programs is getting old. Also the back handed compliment to the players who made it..."and no im not taking anything away from the boys who made it.. i am very happy for them" is not very sincere sounding as you have continually expressed the fact that your boys are better prepared then the other players on this forum.

US U20's good luck. Midwest RC..by asking the press i think you mean the guys who write for this site, correct? i haven't seen any hard reporting. some good op-ed pieces but no hard reporting. this is not an investigative type news site.... islander...having grown up at the start of my rugby career in the jack clark-head usa coaching era, selections have definitely improved across the US but there may still be significant areas for improvement. coaches do push players on rep sides which is why some mediocre players make it. if what you say is true, then the only way to prove the point is not to invite the U20's down for a warm-up but travel to the U20 camp and play them.
