The semifinals and final will be broadcast live on ESPN3.com. Also, the bracket is fine. It would be bracket fixing to purposely keep less competitive teams from playing against better sides.

Are the playoffs going to be held at Infinity Park in Glendale, CO on 5-13&14 (as shown on the brackets above). Or at Stueber stadium (As shown on USA rugby website)? I would like to buy ticktes for them if they are going to be at Infinity Park.

Although the money will probably prevent this I think having a 3rd/4th place game would really be cool as they would have a week to prepare as well compared to the past years where it was back to back days. ASU vs Army would be VERY entertaining even though i would take ASU by 20-30

You are totally off base here. What fantasy land do you live in where the 1 and 2 teams aren't set up on opposite sides of the bracket? Matthew above is spot on, just look at the NCAA basketball, baseball or any other sport's (except football, unless you count 1AA or below) championship tournament structure! Regardless of where they are located geographically, the two best overall seeds are placed so they may meet in the final. Finally, as I said before, if your crappy east coast teams are any good it won't mater because they'll win anyways!

To answer your question, every sport manipulates its seeding to try and get the best two teams into the final. This is especially true in College Sports. Football would just say that BYU & Cal are the best teams, they play and all others are locked out. Basketball also prevents #1 & #2 from playing before the title game. And in a game that is still gaining traction in the US, wouldn't you want the best game possible in the final? Would Army/Navy/Arkansas St/Life vs Cal/SMU/BYU/Utah give you that game? Maybe. But it's more likely that this setup will give you that game. And it's certainly more likely to get the game that people want to see & pay $$$ for.

@ Jesse_g, you just proved my point. Take a look around and tell me of a sport that manipulates the playoff seedings to get the top 2 teams in the final game? Trust me, it is well known within the CPD circle that the playoff schedule was manipulated to ensure a Cal v BYU final...that's wrong. And to Tom Pickard, that's a good idea, but I'm not too sure how this would work.

@Bandit: Politics? Cal and BYU are clearly the 2 best programs in the nation, if anything, it would be unwise to put them both in the same bracket. In any case, if there is a worthy team in the midsouth or east they won't be meeting up (note this is very unlikely because none of those teams have a snowball's chance in hell of betin them).

It's too bad that politics played a part in the playoff seedings. That's the only reason for explaining why the Midsouth is paired with the Pacific and the West is paired with the East. It would have made more sense, both logistically and economically, for the pairings to be East/Midsouth and West/Pacific. Then again, the powers at be voted to make sure BYU and Cal met up...again.
