Well, according to the link you provided, points tabulation and tie-breakers are under two totally separate headings. This suggests to me that they are entirely separate topics and that the tie-breaker system is not inherently part of the points system. Anyway, even though one could make a case for or against making H2H above PD, it looks like they don't use H2H at all but prefer a coin toss. That's asinine.

Wikipedia only contains information that people have submitted to the site. The whole premise is that it's built by the community. Yet I'm sure you could find it if you really wanted to. Every point system has tie breakers built in, all I'm saying is that we voted in a document that says we will use the modern point system to determine standings. So in case of a tie we should use the modern point system to determine standings. Why would we revert to old tie breakers when we just voted in a new point system that includes them. http://www.superxv.com/about/index.asp

Obviously Wikipedia is an imperfect reference, but its article on the Rugby Union Bonus Point System doesn't include a word on tie-breakers. I'm sure that if you asked 1000 knowledgeable rugby people in any of the Super Rugby countries to describe the standings point system, not one would bother to mention how ties are broken. The standings points system is one thing, the tie-breaker is another. Neither is intrinsic to the other. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rugby_union_bonus_points_system

@Cali I have the document and I sent it to the Exec Committee. Two guys from Fresno were at the Executive Committee meeting back in Oct 2010 so they should have it too. It was also distributed to all NCRFU men's clubs before the meeting via email. It states "Modern point system to determine standings". They discussed this in the Executive meeting and there wasn't a question that the modern points system was the Super 15 point system. I was there and so were the guys from Fresno. So it's in writing and you're right there shouldn't be a question. BTW Fresno was there to petition to stay in D2 after winning last season. Our D2 rep wanted them to take a 12pt deduction for this year if they stayed. I spoke for Santa Rosa that they be allowed to stay without the deduction. Which I think swayed the EC vote at least a little but ask your teammates what they think.

Still waiting for someone to produce this "documentation" that you say was voted on that includes the tie breakers!!! until someone can produce something in writing that says what was "adopted", and when, then it seems like a moot point. As was mentioned earlier, the last thing that nor cal has on file is the 2005 document saying that H2H is the tie breaker.

@DoyleMcPoyle "The points system is fairly explicit, and the tie-breaker system is not inherent within it." I'm sorry but yes it is. We adopted the Super15 scoring system and the tie breakers with it are very clearly stated. We should use what we voted in.
