A full small stadium looks a lot better than the alternative. If your city put 17,000 in the house, wouldn't you feel you deserved another chance? I don't how they did it, but if they sold the tickets, the organizers deserve more matches. Speaking of hot venues, when the USA played Ireland in the 80's on Randalls Island, it was hot as hell and the Irish were wilting. At a key moment, their fullback got knocked out, they got a 10 minute break as he was attended to, and that cool off allowed them to come back into the match and win it. Had we played through, who knows what may have happened. We should use all the advantages possible.

Houston has absolutely earned the right to another test and should get one every year until multiple other cities and regions prove that they can draw the same kind of crowd that Houston can. It is vital to American rugby that USA Rugby starts making money off tests and the Eagles so that dues money can be pumped back into grassroots development as it is in Tier 1 countries. However, it should be pointed out that expecting a bunch of Irish fans to go to Houston (as the article suggests) in a Lions year is just not going to happen. Anyone from Ireland who can afford an overseas trip for rugby next year will be in Australia with the Lions, not watching an Irish B team in the US. The only possible way to capture that demographic would be to catch them either on the way to or from Australia.

What's wrong with making the Irish play in a "ridiculously hot" stadium! Our guys will be more used to it and naturally more motivated for the match. 95 degrees can sap out a lot of motivation for guys who are used to 65 degree days in the summer and are only playing in a "friendly".

All soccer specific standiums should be an option. Texas is rediculously hot from May till September. As more soccer specific-stadiums are built, (hopefuuly D.C. in a few years), more International test matches can be played in different cities at different times of the year.

i think they are thinking just a little to big. 20k in a 70k stadium will not look good. usa rugby should just aim to gettting atlest 25k a game before making the jump. and as for playing again in texas. they should have the game played some where else.
