Mikey is an awesome talent with a bright future ahead of him. The kid has a lot of potentials, and he'll be one of the best home grown Belmont product when his career is done. The kid is the first one to practice and the last to leave, always listens and a great student of the game. He's only 19, imagine him at his prime.. He's only thinking one thing, "Brazil 2016".. Almost forgot, HOW ABOUT THEM LAKERS!!!?

How big is Mikey? He played Defensive Tackle in high school football (sometimes Fullback), Prop for the Belmont Shore U19s, Hooker on the USA U20 AAs, Wing on the Belmont Shore 15s, and Scrumhalf on the Belmont Shore 7s. Oh snap, didn't he fill in as flanker against Japan in the JWRT U20 Final against Japan? Think I got that right but it does get confusing and I've watched him play all of those positions. Mikey was going 245 lbs in high school but playing Rugby 24/7 he has transformed his body the past year. At any position he always puts out the same effort though - 110%. Was his decision making perfect during the National 7s Tournament? Better than any Prop/Hooker/Wing I've seen playing Scrumhalf. Does that clarify or confuse the matter?

We profiled Mikey in the digital magazine back in March. He is from Long Beach and started playing rugby in the Belmont Shore youth system. Thanx Pat. Much appreciated.

I would let him bounce around different positions until he was 22. I would focus more on making sure he stayed on point with weight, strength, speed, balance and agility mix as appropo. The man certainly has imagination and may be a little selfish (Which would be heavily punished against better teams) but that is nothing a few soft words cant fix. For those who did not go to SFO, this guy made some bad decisions (Most of which he got away with) but also made sheer brilliant ones, one already mentioned in another article. He is a young confident man who "got it" before his peers and uses his imagination, but needs a just a little more guidance. Either way, he is always fun to watch. This may sound corny, but I would send him to NZ for a few seasons. Barring that, see to it that he goes to every Eagles/All star camp possible. Diamonds are formed under high pressure and heat.

First of all, I'll admit I'm as biased about Mikey as probably anyone but I see Byron Kelleher...he's got the skills to do it himself (attack or kick tactically from the #9 position); he has the leadership skills (mana) to work a pack and keep his backs on point... ...best of all as a D1 Mens Hooker and Wing, this National Championship season, he's already seen the USA game from both forward and back perspectives (and don't we all know how different those two can be). Former All Black #9 Byron Kelleher should be his role model.

He's so young, it could depend on how his body fills out the next couple of years. I think in 15s, he could hook, scrumhalf or play in the centers. Don't think he has the sheer pace of an int'l wing. He's shorter than a lot of centers, but certainly is physical enough and I think he has the pace. He'd be a very physical scrumhalf and maybe an undersized hooker. But Faingaa from Australia isn't massive, either. I think we could find a place for him for sure. In 7s, I think he could bounce to a lot of positions, kind of like Marco Barnard. He could play in the pack or at scrumhalf.
