So what he said is that USA rugby kills itself becuase they can't pull heads out fast enough to let US natl. team players return to the clubs they came from so he could get a true messure of play. Good job USA Rugby hold your coach and players back.

Ambrogi is really good, but a physical train wreck. No reason at all to waste a contract on a guaranteed injury. Maybe next lifetime.

Obviously Al hasn't been fortunate enough to see Greg Ambrogi play. His injury couldn't of come at a worse time. That young man carries Schuykill River on his back. They're very average without him. With Ambrogi in the lineup - they could have challenged Belmont (see Championship run last year). Without him - look at the results this year. I feel for the poor kid.

Agree..Mags is a Honest guy and say it the way it is. There's no time for players to be worrying about their feelings. If you do, then go out and work harder and get better.

Magleby was 100% right to be pressed to name a few. Anyone who watches Sevens Rugby on the IRB circuit, or even more recently in the UK on Fox+, could see that the strategy and even the basics of passing (So many balls bouncing to their intended receiever) how substandard the level of play was. So Coach was right to say that the standard of play needs to be raised and he made valid suggestions. However, I love that many teams have started using younger players. There is still hope for these young lads. Hey many countries play 18/19 year olds on the IRB Sevens circuit. Age should not be a barrier.

"Magleby said also said he'd like to see some academies and more high-level training environments created and supported with funding" - this needs to be done regionally. No way can everyone move to So Cal. Convert current, well run programs into academies. Aaron Manheimer runs a top notch program in Chicago, Serevi Rugby in the NW is OBVIOUSLY huge and so on. As has been suggested in the past: get some regional teams and have them play in elite tournaments in the major regions. If guys want to compete at the top level they compete to play for those teams but they dont have to move across the country, just a few states. Then crown the national champions and pick the Eagles from there. Why is this so hard??

The author did mentioned Mags was "pressed" to point out potential players. I think Mags was disappointed and let his feelings be known. He is completely justified in having high expectations. Having Shalom not play was silly and deprived him of seeing how others might have stacked up against a known commodity. In other parts of the world, players return to clubs all the time. All Blacks, Wallabies, etc. coming and going from clubs. It can only improve the overall level of competition. We are very near sited in this country...
