Doesn't it make sense to have the Development Side travel as Atlantis? Emile has been the prophet of 7's for more years than I care to acknowledge and is now getting his due. He always said that 7's will blaze the path for USARugby international recognition and he was right. Atlantis were the ambassadors of USA 7s with Emile as "el presidente". Around the world they went and they always captured the rugby spirit while playing amazing rugby under the "yoda" of 7s. I imagine that most of the US 7s leadership began with Emile and Atlantis so why stop now?

Anyone given any thought to a invitational weekend where teams like Atlantis, 1823, Youngbloodz & Tigers compete against each other? Check-out the "Serevi Rugbytown Sevens" which was just announced for August 11th in Glendale. Serevi's putting-together his own select side to play against: The Belmont Tigers, the USA Collegiate All-Americans, The USA mens' national team (under the name Falcons), Chicago Lions, OPSB-Beach, Glendale and the world-renowned Samurai invitational club from the UK. There's a $10,000 prize. He's also putting-on a two-day high school development camp, to find the next wave of players in the USA.

One of the benefits of a tour like this is that the players are not wearing the Eagle jersey. There is just a little less pressure to win and perhaps a little more willingness to experiment and be given a little latitude when making mistakes. I would really like to see the 15's side tour in a similar vein - playing good competition as a Cougars side. The Eagles 15 side plays test matches almost exclusively and the ability to develop is therefore lost. Hat's off to Emil for stickng with it all these years. Good luck to the boys.
