My son, Shaun from Arkansas State University, was invited by Waisale Serevi who identified him at the 7's tournament in College Station in December last year, to attend the camp in SD last week. He says it was the greatest experience he has had and rubbing shoulders with the legends of 7's rugby was the highlight. It is an honour to be coached by Waisale Serevi, Gordon Tietjens, Matt Hawkins, Santiago Cora (long time Argentinian captain), Miles Craigwell, Tony Pacheco (College AA 7's coach)and Evan Haigh (who takes care of all the logistics) and is a once in a lifetime experience. I would strongly recommend the Serevi Academy to anyone who is serious about making 7's rugby their career. Shaun says this was top class professionalism and by far the best of the many rugby camps he has attended in his career in South Africa and I believe USA rugby is on the right track.

If you have a problem with Serevi or the camp, simple - don't send your kid or your players. He's for profit, and if he's doing a bad job, then he won't have a job soon. If what he's doing holds value, then he'll be helping whoever pays to send players. I don't get the hate, if others want to hire him what's your beef?

You know you doing something right when people are hating on you. Let's be honest USA for the longest time its been the same thing over and over remember "things that stay the same never change" I think Serevi is on to something something that we have know for a very long time in this country! Grass roots rugby! We finally have someone doing it and people try to bring him down, hmm figures! My take is don't knock someone for trying to grow the game when you haven't done jack, and if you have there is more than enough people to go around. How can this be a bad thing? International hall of fame coach (Gordon Tietjens) here in the US to help those who want to be helped. There has been many camps and will be many more camps around the US. Stop being an A hole about it. At the end of the day its all about Go Eagles Go! and lets defend our Olympic GOLD!

We finally have someone Who is doing something to help rugby in this country and people are trying to bury him. Come on man Serevi is doing this at his own expense with his own funding, it would be different if USA rugby brought him in to do it. But we all know that USA rugby can not and will not because of their limitations. Thats the problem in this country we all complain about everything without offering a solution. Come on man! "The Truth" sounds like a competitor who is upset that he is being upstaged, hahaha so sad! Listen its not like Serevi is teaching these kids how to drink, or misbehave. Serevi the savior of rugby in the US? NO but he is sure doing a better job than the people who are supposed to be. People who are paid to rescue USA rugby from the OLD Boy Club. If you have nothing good to say than don't say anything at all unless you are the one that will be going from school to school trying to preach this beautiful game.

They also had a camp in Chicago. If there's demand and a good place to host, I'm sure the Serevi folks will acquiesce. With Serevi based in Seattle(year 1) and Matt Hawkins in SD, as well as Chula Vista, SD made sense for year 2. Assuming long-term, camps in the MW could be done. Caravelli had a camp in Ohio recently, too. I have personally been coached by serevi in Seattle. I have no idea what is in his past, doesn't matter. I don't think he's trying to be the savior of American rugby but he's got a great team together, as a private for-profit company, and they are moving the ball forward in America. He's trying to get younger kids playing (check), help good players become intl-caliber players (check), give more kids opportunities (check). He is an inspirational guy, without a doubt, and he's a phenomenal coach. Firsthand experience. And he can get Gordon Tietjens and the Argentine coach here. Big props to his whole organization.
