if this happens and the Pac 12 rugby conference forms, it would be nice for the other teams and organizations in the Pacific region to follow the same format. Teams like SDSU, Cal Poly, St. Mary's, UCSB, UC Irvine, Loyola Marymount, Claremont and others should form a legitimate conference that will lead to varsity programs, access to more funding, better competition, and hopefully one day NCAA status. This will push college rugby in the right direction

Walter, it's comments like yours that make me believe that the sport will never grow. For the record, I like how P12 rugby would move the collegiate level towards an NCAA governance. But dismissing someone's comment on the assumption that they haven't played rugby is isolationist and doesn't help others take the sport seriously.

Ohhhh "oregonbobby" talk about pot calling the kettle black. The guy who went to school in the urban mecca of Corvallis calling out another land grant university for being out in the boonies. Ask anyone who goes (or went) to WSU, they wouldn't trade their college experience for anything. As for the other Pac schools, if they want this to be a true Pac-12 conference they will make the trip to Pullman, just as WSU has to make the trip to any of them. WSU is exploring an eventual move to the Pac-12 conference but it will not be until the conference is viable and on its feet, probably a few seasons down the road.

Washington and/or Stanford, maybe. 0regon won't join, not a chance. They do not have the organization, coaching or talent. Organization and continuity are key at this level. It would be nice of they could. WSU is so far out in the boonies I just can't imagine they could make it work (or that anyone would want to go there!)

Is the "six school" rule really a Pac-12 thing? I know it's an NCAA rule, and therefore would apply to the Pac-12 in any sport they play. I'm not so certain they have rules for non-NCAA sports. They still need one more school to get an automatic bid on the D1-AA level, if they play at that level. Also, I think OSU can only keep a side in the NCRC if this league is D1-A (provided that it still exists next year). Even then, a-sides for D1-A squads only counted towards the seven team minimum this year, and that's what the NCRC will have to worry about if the Pac-12 can convince the Washington and Oregon teams to leave.

Rugbyfans is exactly what his name states. A fan... Any competitve team should want a shot at one of the best teams in the country. Sounds like someone who sleeps with the light on after playing Cal or Arizona is taking out agression online. And for Jack Clark and Dave Sitton, hats off to you guys for your efforts in elevating the sport of college rugby. This is definately the next step before NCAA recognition. All true fans respect their efforts.

I know that Oregon State wants to elevate themselves to an elite level of rugby. There is plans for an on campus stadium and club house that will rival many of the top programs in the nation. Aligning themselves with the Pac12 comp makes sense from a diplomatic stand point. Look for the OSU to keep a team in the NCRC as well, similar to what CWU does. Go Beavs!
