Wow, anybody hating on the teams invited to play must NOT be true rugby fans... as a true fan who wants others in the US to experience the amazingness that is rugby, I'm glad any team at all is being broadcasted. Yep, how well-known your school logo is DOES MATTER if you want rugby to get the appreciation that it deserves in this country. I'm sorry that you do not feel the same way about rugby. Good thing you are not going to be around to spoil it for the ruggers, rugby fans, and rookies to the sport.

While I'd love to see the best 7's teams play in the tournament, the majority of the uneducated public would not tune in to watch St Marys play Arkansas St. Neither are a big draw and if rugby wants to grow in the US, it needs to get some good exposure and that is exactly where the CRC fits in. I agree it should be renamed the CCI because that really is what it is, but I disagree that Central Washington,Kutz town, etc would be better simply because they would not be as big of a draw for the average tv viewer despite the probability that they play better rugby. Like in football, more would tune in to watch an unranked Michigan play Ohio St than would ever watch a #5 Boise State play a top 15 Iowa. Same thing applies to this tournament since their $ will come from advertising

While it is exciting that the CRC is broadcast on NBC, it's highly disappointing that some of the best teams in the nation will not be competing in an event dubbed the “Collegiate Rugby Championship.” Arkansas State, BYU (despite opting out of the USAR Collegiate 7’s Championship), Cal Poly, Central Washington, Davenport, Kutztown, San Diego State, St. Mary's, Utah... these are the teams that would litter the top of the standings when all is said and done (along with Life, Cal and Dartmouth). One would think that a “championship” tournament, especially one broadcast to such an audience, would be comprised of the best 7’s programs in the nation… Perhaps the CRC was more appropriately titled when known as the Collegiate Championship Invitational.

Just an observation: Take notice of Saturday's online Pool Match schedule, and look at the teams that happen to be playing in "Prime Time", when it does come on NBC, after their Saturday 4:30 PM start time. Sure hope NBC will wisely slide in some earlier taped matches for their live network broadcast...Hey, I'm just going for the cheese steaks! But it is on "NBCSportsHD"(formerly Versus), starting @ 2:00 PM, and covering matches until the network takes over at 4:30 PM.

Wow, nice mention of Life University.... I suppose it is like inviting an ant to a picnic, but come on these guys are going for the College 7s "Triple Crown" this year. I suppose you could have played the David vs Goliath angle, but this David is fit, fast, well coached, smart, and hungry!
