The Eagles will stay basically where they are for the forseeable future for a fairly simple reason - our best 7's athletes are a notch or two below the tier two countries and they are yet another notch or two behind the top 3 or 4 teams. Until contracts that have REAL $$ behind them the next level of athlete is NOT going to be found. What is shocking to me is that USA Rugby has not got the ability to fund the program to the tune of $1 mill a year for salaries. For 15 players that would be 66 K a year. With a real salary in the 50 - 70 K range and the opportunity to represent the US in the Olympics there are cross over athletes that could be attracted to the game, trained and be prepared for a run at the 2016 games. Find the money Nigel and put a real program on the table!

Where was Rocco Mauer in this tournament? Not sure if he was injured or what, I don't see how you can't start your leading try scorer in the last two tournaments. I know his passing and defense were called into question, but after this weekends performance it is clearly a team issue with defense. The pattern was terrible at times, and other times it wasn't there. Too many times caught with no sweeper, or leaving drastic gaps between the 3 and 4 man. You can always teach someone how to pass, you can't teach the speed that he has (look to his try where he burned around Mat Turner, considered one of the fastest on the circuit). Disappointing finish to the season to say the least. Would have expected to see more time out of Mauer.
