I'm excited for the games on Saturday. If you think BYU will beat Life by a lot then you haven't followed BYU or Life rugby this year. I think this one will come down to kicking and both teams have great kickers so it will be a fun one. I'm not going to pick a winner. I'll let time tell. I just hope it's online somewhere. I'm sad Cal dropped out this year as well. Even though BYU probably would have beat them. It would have been a much better match than BYU UCLA.

A Question for you: Who defeated Utah in the Las Vegas 7's Invitational, back in February: Life. Referring back to my earlier post, western-oriented rugby fans do not know what to make of the ASU's and Life's out there, especially their defense!

I don't think BYU is overlooking Life. They aren't the type of team to do so. BYU's fans are another story, uneducated rugby fans and really only follow the sport because of the physicality. That being said, I think Life will give BYU a run for their money. Dumb and Dumber at the props for BYU will prove costly. I choose Life.

I think life will put up it's best effort, and I'm not trying to bash them or any other team from those areas. But rugby played in the state of Utah has proven itself over and over from u19 through the college competitions,th at rugby in Utah is different and it's hard to beat teams from Utah !!! we have a huge sbro here and my HS/u19 ) and youth and kids start at 6yrs old state wide. So many of these young men have played HS rugby together or against eachothe an it shows once they get in these higher level systems. I predict BYU will beat Life 91-28. Theve done it all year against really good clubs

Life and ASU in my opinion are on their way up. Penn State is static or falling behind. Life beat Penn State as bad as BYU beat Penn State, ASU played BYU last year very tight. To bring Kutztown into the discussion is idiotic. They are a DI team posing as DIA team. They have been even more irrelevant than Penn State.

BYU vs. Life will be the game to watch ... too bad it's not for the National Title. As for all previous comments, I wouldn't get too carried away ... Life is a new team that has never played BYU, and regardless of how much film they watch, they won't quite know what it's like playing BYU until they're on the pitch getting hit hard and dealing with a team that displays many similar strengths to themselves. That being said, Life does have the best chance here to beat BYU. They will have to truly play to all their strengths to make it happen: home-field advantage, climate, solid support play, speed on both sides of the ball, kicking accuracy, physicality in contact areas and 80-min endurance. If they can execute accordingly while making BYU commit handling errors and penalties, then this will be a barn-burner and Life could very well come out on top. Holding my breath here, but I'm still banking on BYU! :D Good luck to both teams.

It's extremely tough to gauge any of the western rugby programs in comparison to ASU and Life, as western rugby fans seem to not have much of a clue about either of these two programs. This coming weekend should reveal much about all four very, tough teams! Watch these matches next Saturday and see "how high the bar" actually is! Hoping to see the very best in college rugby. Good luck to everyone!

Penn State had the right idea... Flying up on defense and trying to take away that space to prevent the Life Backs from running their moves. Unfortunately some off-sides calls and some "gate" infractions put PSU back in check. And of course PSU couldn't keep up with Lifes level of fitness. I very much look forward to great day of rugby next weekend vs. BYU and the the RSL game vs NYAC after.

{Not sure losing to Life by 72 when next week Life will lose 50 to BYU is a move in the right direction. East Coast rugby has been a joke for the past 5-10 years. USA rugby should reduce their automatic bids from 2 to 1 and give the other bid to south or west. Texas A&M and Air Force are better than every team in rugby east. PATHETIC! You must be joking. Penn State themselves has beaten every single southern team they have faced for at least the past 5 years. Tennessee in 2007, LSU in 2009 both were in the playoffs, the one exception is Life which I believe is fully varsity. But to consider the south, which only has two legitimate programs (AKSU and Life), as a more potent conference is laughable. As far as teams in the west I would agree that maybe another seed should go to them but not from the east and in the format we have now it works better to 2 from every conference. Know your history before you are made to look like a fool.
