Rhino, I would fully expect you guys to be in the 4 again this year especially after that lesson you taught Modesto today. Just to back track a little bit, that 66-14 victory over DARC in the consolation match last year was because we fielded guys who might otherwise not of seen the pitch at all that weekend had the first game gone the other way. You guys were a good team but had there been something else to play for the result wouldn't have been so one sided. No surprise to see some of the same teams back in the mix again, maybe if Texas didn't force us up to DII, who knows we could of been right back in San Diego today. Good luck to those in the Elite 8 tomorrow, I'll there in Colorado to hopefully see some faces from last year.

If you read the first paragraph, you will understand how New Orleans and Kansas City are given a good chance. The previous winners (as explained in that same paragraph) have often been DIII sides of teams that also include DI sides. Practicing against a DI side requires a DIII side to elevate their game. There is also the factor of normally having a larger coaching staff and more infrastructure behind the scenes. That's not to say that teams with only a DIII side don't have a chance, as they often have a few players that would be playing DI if there was a DI team in their geographic area. I played with an Eagle and a future Eagle on DIII teams.

I'm just curious, what did either Kansas City or New Orleans do in the last two years to earn such a ringing endorsement? I don't know anything about either team and certainly don't doubt their skill or commitment, but neither team has even made it to the round of 16 in either year. Meanwhile, both Syracuse and South Bay were in the final four last year. In fact, South Bay was also in the round of 8 the year before and last year lost to Metropolis, the eventual champs by only 5 points. We finished our 2011 season by defeating 4th place Dallas 66-14 and ranked 3rd in the nation. Our team is young having only existed in its current form for 2-3 years now and we are struggling to build a solid foundation. We aren't even sure where we are going to get the money to get to Colorado this year, assuming we earn a spot. Still, I wonder, what do we have to do to get a little love from your Mag and from the Rugby establishment in general?

I never understood why DII can go to Nationals. I think it should be regionals only. Now these good DII teams have no reason to bump up to DI if they can go to nationals in DII every year.
