@joe sweeney xavier . Im sorry but it will have to be agree to disagree about the 2012 team vs. the 2010 team. Because Ive seen these teams play against Mcq high school. The 2010 and 2011 team for Mcq was much better than this years and so was xaviers in my opinion

Just to add to Coach Sweeney's comments...if you think this is the weakest Xavier team in years, ask the teams that have played them. Perhaps no X team ever has played as competitive a regular season schedule...in addition to Greenwich, they've played defending state Champions (St. Joe's, PA; St. Thomas, TX), defending regional champions (Cathedral, IN; Gonzaga; Union, NJ). Plus a tour to Ireland and a Hale Australian team that reportedly beat #1 Gonzaga (86-5) as well as defending National champs Jesuit by 3+ scores. X has some losses, as well as some solid wins..and in the face of that schedule, have been competitive in every single game. Give Greenwich their props. The X kids were good. The G kids were better.

@Northeastern Rugby, You miss my point. I'm not arguing whether Greenwich has been ready to go to the Nationals for 10 years (though they have been to the Nationals 2 or 3 times in the past 10 years). The point is that they have an outstanding team that should have the opportunity to play their way into the Nationals, but the current system prevents that. They shouldn't have to spend years building a case for being invited. The same could be said of Heriman HS in Utah who are undefeated and have beaten two Utah teams that are going to the Nationals, but have no opportunity to play into the tournament themselves. By the way, I am Xavier's coach and disagree with your assesment of our current team. This is a team that has been erratic in its play, but is capable of competing at the same level of the 2010 team that won the Nationals

@Joe Sweeney Xavier You act like Greenwich has been ready for Nationals for the past 10 years. They have been second for many of those years and third in 20010/11. This is the weakest team Xavier has had in years! I agree that they are a good team and all but if they can do this for the next couple years, then we can see about going back. But many other great teams have gotten screwed over with this invite system too. If Greenwich can keep this up next year and the year after, they might get invited

Greenwich took an early lead 14-0 in the first ten minutes. Xavier battled back to take the lead 22-19 with ten minutes to go, but Greenwich scored two tries in the final five minutes to notch their first win over Northeast rival Xavier since 1999. Greenwich is undefeated, have beaten last year's top two Northeast teams (who finished 2nd & 6th in the nation), but have no shot to make it to the Nationals because of the new invite system. So Greenwich, who have beaten each of their Connecticutt league matches by 85+ points (according to the league website) cannot go any further than winning their seven-team SBRO league (the same state championship they've won for the pasty 4 years). This is exactly why we need to return to the old National Championship where every team gets the chance to play into the tournament and the top teams get to play at the highest level of competition they can achieve.
