@fullstrength You are correct. BYU didn't start all the usual suspects against Colorado and, of course, all 22 who did suit up played substantial minutes. Davies had a killer of a match in his last regular season contest at South Field. I hope he didn't use up all his karma in that game, since he'll need some more for Life. Everyone knows that the game that counts will be in Marietta on 12 May in the semis, after Life dispatches PSU on May 5th. I wouldn't be surprised if several of the starters didn't start or even play in the UCLA playoff match. Just my two cents.

I suppose I agree and I don't...on the one hand, winning is winning and a national title is prizefighter enough. Onnthe other hand, every real competitor would rather knock off the giant than have the giant duck them and make up stories about graduation. But, as NoBiggie points out, the giant is obviously pretty diminished, so maybe MCR really isn't missing out on such a great coup.

Now that St. Mary's beat Cal and BYU smashed St. Mary's, it shouldn't really matter to BYU. Pretty sure BYU would beat Cal this year anyway. First things first for the Cougs...worry about each game before the National Championship.

I'm pretty sure that the team feels that a national championship is a national championship and that beating Cal is a whole other issue. They'd be glad to play Cal, but, in spite of many imprecations, Cal always refuses. Maybe next year.

Looks like Men's Cougar Rugby is going to be unbeatable this year. Kind of a shame they will win a national title without beating Cal, but that's not MCR's fault, nor is it their problem.
