lets not forget that this is a club sport for most d2 schools so playing one game a week would increase travel pay.It all works out at the end and you need to have a bench.

Why would you have both Midwest and Missouri teams in the same region? So if Central Missouri beats Whitewater and Lindenwood beats Milwaukee they have to play each other again? Why wouldn't you put them in separate regions so they will only face off in the championship if they win out. To me this is so stupid and part of the reason Texas Tech isn't coming to Cottage Grove. If they would beat whitewater they would face Lindenwood again which crushed them. Poor tournament planning if you ask me.

I dont disgaree with you that the system isn't ideal. In fact, it's the only sport that has a final four on a Saturday and National Title on Sunday. However, as Texas Tech just proved, going to Nationals isn't cheap, especially for a club sport. In addition to airfare/busfare you have hotels and 12 meals per player over 4 days. It's already a huge burden on the teams, adding an extra day adds more of a burden.

No. It means poor quality rugby will rule the day. The team with the largest number of physical players committed to smashmouth rugby will beat a skilled team when the format is 2 games in 2 days. It means that the coaches don't have to worry about tactics because there is no time to implement them. It means the sport is dumbed down in an effort to win a dumb format.

As a former participant at nationals, I understand the stress that 2 games in 2 days can cause. However adding a day of rest means another hotel night stay, which means more $ and another day of classes missed. When you factor in travel to get to nationals, you could be gone 5 nights. It just means you have to be fit and have a deep team to win it all.

Hasn't it been proven time and time again that two highly competitive knock-out matches in 2 days is counter intuitive to player well-being/safety, fairness and insuring a competitive skilled spectacle to promote the game? USA is probably the only nation that plays rugby with the mentality that two games in two days is normal. Pathetic.
