Like Division IA football, divisional sports are dependent on "numbers". When I played in Boston, we had seven sides and four sides when I played for LARC. Most FLA clubs are lucky to field 2 sides with sometimes the competion field only 1. Invidual players in FLA are as good as anywhere else in the country, but a travelling team must have at least 22 "above average players who can travel"...impossible in FLA!

Isn't this like the 2nd or 3rd time Boca has done this? I remember them up in Newport RI in the DII playoffs in 2006 or so...travel didn't seem like too much of a problem then? Must be that they only want to travel to nice places.

Try the Moline-Quad Cities airport...it's cheaper than Des Moines, and discount lines like Air Tran fly in there. Not that difficult. It's more of the notion that DI in the South isn't up to par since Life moved to RSL.

I assume the south will penalize Boca the same as Tampa. BTW, the Florida teams were forced to d1. It was not a choice.

To be fair, other unions have this problem too. Last year in the West, Shreveport didn't travel to Glendale, and whoever the ERRFU #4 was supposed to be didn't travel to Austin.

There is no luxury, have you been to Davenport, IA? The nearest international airport is Des Moines 3 hrs away, and chicago @ 4-5 hrs away. Davenport is a blackhole for logistics and travel have them travel to Chicago or Des Moines to play these games. They can get a bus to take 'em. They have the MONEY.

then stop trying to do it! is it fair again for the other teams competing for a national playoff, that again Palmer has the luxury of resting its players and moving on in the competition! I am sure that their was another d 1 club in the country that was better suited and deserving of the opportunity to compete for a national title. Boca Raton received theirs not on merit but by the fact there was no one else. Usa rugby needs to reduce the number of seeds given to sub par unions
