rja1 I didn't tell you what my thoughts were ,I told you the thoughts of the SANZAR bosses and they are no fools,a lot of investigation has gone into how to achieve there goals. You and I are not privy to all the results of there investigations but one thing I know is rugby has very close ties with big business in the US .Rugy is growing so quickly in countries like the US,China and Russia that the established rugby nations can hardly believe it.

"And 7s is not the only one looking at the USA ,Super Rugby (15s) is looking to set up teams in Canada,USA,Japa n and Argentina when the current tv deal finishes in 2015 ,this is already being talked about by the SANZAR bosses because there after the potentially large tv rights deal that could come from such an expansion." I don't see how you can get TV rights. At most, two teams would be setup here. No one is getting a national TV deal for teams based in say L.A. and San Francisco. So then you go local. And they're not going to be able to cover the travel costs from any TV deal from Fox Sports Los Angeles or whatever. And then the crowds are not going to be able to cover the costs of running the team, so an L.A. team for example in Super Rugby would be one huge subsidy on the rest of the league. It would be the Phoenix Coyotes to Super Rugby's NHL.

"Lets hope were talking NBC Sports Network in the Fall." Far too early. You're looking at 2014 at the earliest for a full competition I'd bet. Although I'd love to hear how they pull this off, it's not like good rugby players can be created overnight: "No grass roots efforts here, we’re all about starting, and winning, at the top." It's really hard to take these people seriously when you read stuff like this. There's being hopeful and then there's being completely detached from reality. What existing base of rugby talent are they pulling from that allows them to start and win at the top exists here unless they go and pay a bunch of foreigners a lot of money? Alan Rothenberg is involved who I know is a big deal in soccer (and is likely why you see AEG here) so it tells me these people are not idiots, but their press releases seem to be written by idiots.
