CIPPing takes less than 5 minutes to do if the Utah boys were cipped before. How hard is that? Check off some boxes, pay by credit card and you're done. Simple.

Fairplay, USA Rugby should have some rules regarding "good standing". Any team competing (at least in the playoffs) must be in good standing with USARFU (and by extension, its member unions, like the TUs and the RSL). If Utah Warriors have any oustanding obligations to the RSL, the RSL should be able to say they are "not in good standing", and USARFU should respect that and prevent Utah from any rugby this season. Therefore, the Warrior players that have yet to CIPP, might be best served to not CIPP into a broken club, and find a club in "good standing" before the deadlines.

Just as cal shouldn't be allowed to play D1 neither should the warriors. They committed to super league and then a few days before their first game all this came out. Whalen or whoevers fault, if they can't field a side in the league they committed too then they shouldn't be allowed to play. A lot of clubs work hard to stay in the SL, and the same of D1 clubs. The warriors aren't the first club to have issues but they dealt with it terribly.

Sean Whalen is a crook! Bankrupt and a scam artist....and now he has made the Utah Warriors his latest victim. They're going on about how no one knows the battles they're going through?? How much of a battle is it to make sure the team is CIPP registered? Talk, talk, talk...They're calling themselves the best SL team?! They are at the bottom of the pile in the SL. Utah boys: stop talking and start doing!

If one gets info only from this rugbymag site, then this news comes as a complete surprise. Just 3 months ago, Pat Clifton's article here announced Salesi Sika as the Warrior's head coach, and reiterated the words of "owner Sean Whalen" without comment. So it sounded as though all was well regarding the Utah Warriors. But the failure of Mr. Whalen to fulfill obligations should NOT be surprising. In Utah, a Daily Herald article depicted Sean Whalen as a fraudster trying to use bankruptcy as a way to avoid paying creditors. This article appeared over a year ago ("Creditors accuse Orem entrepreneur of fraud," 1/28/2011). Other websites, like Biggerpockets (dotcom) has an extensive thread of complaints (started in November 2010) regarding Sean Whalen and his business, Property23. Does it seem strange to anybody here that the Utah Warriors is the only RSL team that has a person calling himself the team's owner? This article does not tell much of the story.
