I seriously wonder if some of you on here that are concerned with crowd attendance, or those of you from the east coast who are concerned about the weather, have actually ever been to Houston or even know a damn thing about it in general. I spent many Summer months as a youth on the east coast, and I can assure you that the weather where you live is equally as terrible during the Summer without a doubt. The difference is, is that we have 9 months of glorious weather, you might have what, 5 or 6. As to attendance; some of you are acting like Houston is some kind of cow town or something. There are over 6 million people in the Houston Metro Area. We are the 4 th largest city in the U.S. Second only to NYC in Fortune 500 company HQ's. Some of you are saying that the game should be played in places like San Francisco or Glendale......get real! I think you may need to recheck the last census and ask yourselves whether or not YOU have the population to support a sporting event.

our game vs italy will be a real battle as italy always have monster forwards who are renowned for loving the physical side of the game, i thought we gave them a good game at the world cup until they slowly ground us down.tets like this will only help the eagles improve

It is absurd that the Georgia match does not eve nhave a venue decided yet. It was stated a onth ago that locations for the Italy and eorgia matches would be announced "next week".

I, too,am disappointed that this game will not be played here in New York (Maybe USA-Georgia? Please?), BUT as someone who has spent many months there over three decades, I agree with all of Houston's boosters who have weighed in so far. You can have a great time there and they DO know how to stage an event. The weather can be horrendous in summer, but it is an evening game, so that should help somewhat. Check out the stadium website: it's brand new, state-of the-art, located downtown and seats just 23,000-- like Rio Tinto, Red Bull, et al.-- so our crowd won't be swallowed up. I'm concerned as to whether the local/regional rugby community is big enough to support this game, but if the organizers are smart, they'll market this game in a clever and imaginative way to a football-mad state that will be in severe gridiron withdrawal at that point. The only competition the Eagles will have for Houston's sports dollars at that point will be the ho-hum Astros.

After recovering from Lost Afternoon on Friday, we will be tailgating along about noon before the match at 6:30pm. If you're worried about H-town not being able to support an international test match, please stay home. We need no buzzkills!

Probably when/if the IRB tells USAR a year or so in advance. The IRB is notoriously crappy about letting second-tier nations know what their upcoming fixtures are going to be.

I am extremely annoyed this game is not going to be played in Glendale. Glendale has been an excellent venue for the eagles and was becoming something of a home for the Eagles. Eagles test matches always fill Infinity to capacity. That stadium in Houston is huge. The crowd will look very sparse in that massive stadium. Also, has there been any word if this will be broadcast on TV at all? - Frustrated Rugby Fan

This is great news as Houston is a sports mand town. However when is USA Rugby going to start coming out with the Eagles/Select XV's fixture list a year or so in advance so out of state fans can make plans to attend the games. A few months is not enough time.

If I am not mistaken wasn't the match of USA vs. South Africa one of the most highly attended internationals (XV's) to be hosted in here. I could understand possibly hosting it further north (due to climate), but to be fair a lot of those people in Chicago for the World Cup were based in the near by neighbors to the north (I was in Toronto when Italy won the WC and they shut down most of the city). Houston is willing to dedicate a large stadium, and is has plenty to offer, to a rugby match where other cities are not. I havent seen many pictures of the new stadium, but I remember being at UH for the SA game and it was pretty packed. I am originally from Texas and despise Houston, but they know how to show a good event, even for a sport larger in other parts of the world. I think it is a great choice, but I do pray the humidity will be down.
