I'm interested to see how many people will be in attendance at this match ... Perhaps JC and Cal still have the image of the 12,000+ fans at last year's final in their heads, but nearly all of them were BYU fans ... not Utah fans. I'm surprised that a match-up like this hasn't been marketed very strongly, especially given the venue. A facebook event page created for the match by Utah currently has 265 people listed as going. Seriously, it makes me question the travel/money concerns cited by Cal in recent months ... because I wouldn't be surprised if the attendance tomorrow isn't more than one to two thousand, i.e., not exactly a slam-dunk financial success. Ahhh well, I'll be there with a few other rowdies nonetheless. :D

The CPL or D 1-A or whatever is the right path to take college rugby and the national team to a new level. I don't care who came up with the idea, it's right. We have to get serious about rugby, we have to bring that professional or varsity approach to the game. Make a top division for the teams/schools that get it. Make a second division for teams that are developing it. Make a Rugby and Bowling division for teams that don't want to make the commitment. It's really strange to see the posts of people talking about the top division possibly failing as if they are taking about the fall of Suddam Hussane. It's not a good thing to force the best teams back into the second division. That would be a huge failure for American rugby. The best (including Cal and BYU) need to lead us forward, not fall back.

I belive JC is what we call a "flip flop", trying to slap USA rugby around year after year with what he thinks should be done. No one wants to hear it anymore Jack, if you want to make a difference, join the USAR competitions committee.

Wasn't it like 18 months ago that JC was saying a "premier" competition with the best 32 teams in 4 conferences was the pathway to sponsorship and broadcast revenue? JC must look in the mirror and laugh at how the rugby lemmings in the USA eat up his every word as gospel. What a bunch of lemmings the rugby media and coaching community is when it comes to JC and Cal.

"Clark has made no secret of the fact that he thinks a Pac-12 rugby competition would be compelling to fans, sponsors, and possibly TV." Cal 66, Southern Cal 0 Cal 50, Oregon State 3 Cal 58, UCLA 0 Cal 109, Stanford 0 Cal 82, Arizona 0 Cal 59, Arizona State 7 Total: Cal 414, Opponents 10 Utah and UCLA left to play. If you find that compelling, you probably think watching a Super League team play a Division 3 club side is compelling too. All of these are scores you see from Namibia in the World Cup.
