Kevin I think what you are doing is great as far as your program and your players. I wish you nothing but succes. I just think DII is the wrong place for your program. In all other sports JC's play other JC's for much the same recruiting and eligibility reasons I laid out earlier. Just my opinion and as I stated before I wish your program nothing but the best.

As for our program, our players can only stay for a maximum of 3 years, must carry a minimum of 12 units and turn in monthly grade reports. We take very seriously the desire and work to transfer to a 4-year institution. While some individuals are not cut out for a 4 year institution, they all deserve an opportunity for a better life. As far as transfer success, our starting #1,2,6, 15, as well as a couple of reserves are the products of successful JuCo transfers. We also have recently sent players to both Arizona St and UCLA. Penn State and St. Mary's will be among the recipients of some of this year's Academy Grads. Please reach out to me if you are interested in players. We have a stable full of 18-20 year olds looking to continue their education and play some good rugby. Kevin Battle

Im with Rugby Coach on this one. Just a few questions for the JC's... If these are two year programs why are there guys playing 3 and 4 years for the side? How does one pursue a bachleor degree (per USA rugby collegiate requirments) at a Junior college when all that is on offer is a AA? What is the minimum number of units does it take to be considerd a "full-time undergraduate" (per USA rugby collegiate requirments)by a JC? I think it is great that the JC's are puting together competitive sides but they enjoy a whole lot more wiggle room in regard to elligibility than 4 year colleges and in my opinion an unfair advantage. Much easier to recruit a guy who knows he only need sign up for a 2 unit class than it is to tell them they will have to spend 4 years studying for a degree. Or for that matter not need take SAT's nor have a minimum GPA to enroll.

I agree. Very few guys go from a JC/CC to a 4 year school, and I am aware of some guys attending a JC just to have a chance to make the All-American side. A lot of these guys should be playing for the local men's club.

Not a fan of community colleges competing with universities in the same tournament style competition. Friendlies, no problem, because potentially, everyone benefits. 2 yr schools like this and others that have made playoffs before, don't work. There should be a JC/CC competition as well running simultaneously.
