Who in their right mind schedules a college tournament during most schools finals week or even week before? Why not the first or second week of January when most all schools are out on break and their studies are not interfered with, they are students and are there for their education, not just rugby. Most of these teams are clubs and don't have the pull to move final exams around for their players. My own son had to bow out from attending with his club, Wisconsin, because he has four finals from Thursday to Monday. I really hope they think it out for next year so all the teams can bring their best players which would improve the overall play. At least they are doing something, but a little common sense goes a long ways.

OK didn't make the 1/4ers of the cup and CWU didnt get invited this year. Here is the solution... Add two more pools to the CRC with the teams that made the 1/4ers...the tourney would would have big names and great rugby schools. The same tourney format as this (6 pools 4 teams) Keep this guy who did the morning commentary ('cause he is RAD) as a color guy with the big full NBC crew...you got yourself a product to sell.

I think Ark St.'s foreign talent will shine today. @ KU - It looks to me like ONLY Oklahoma and CWU were in both this and the CRC. And CWU IS in the Cup. But yes, the CRC seems to be more about getting viewership and attendance than trying to get the best rugby 7's teams. Hopefully both tourneys will do a better job in the future of trying to get the best teams to attend. This one had a lot of quality teams decline due to the timing.

Puzzled: Cal Poly and Central Washington are in the positions they're in because CWU and Arkansas State were in the same pool in the first round, and it's against tournament rules to put teams from the same pools against each other in the first round of the Cup Quarters. And, no - Oklahoma (+7) should not be the top of the Bowl bracket, as their game point differential was worse than UC Davis (+17) and Miami (+15), which is how seeding among teams with equal pool points works.
