Stony Brook is a solid team and ran an awesome tournament. They were a permit short of having even more stuff set up too. Great camaraderie between teams all day.

Yeah, odds are Brockport will not be at Empire 7s due to their suspension. As for Buffalo, the reason they are not there is likely money issues. They have a thriving sevens program; they just do not get enough funding from their student government to support these trips. The same could be said for programs such as Niagara and Canisius, which have sevens experience. And St. Bonaventure, the top ERC team in 15s, has no real sevens program.

That 7's team AIC had a couple of summers ago was a bunch of guys who had never played Rugby before and trying it out in the summer. That is a FAR STRETCH from the reality of the athletes they have on their team now. Remember, this is only AIC's 2nd full school year with a rugby program. It will be VERY INTERESTING to see them compete in this tournament with their current team. Navy is obviously the team to beat but this could be a great tournament to go and see live!

It was confirmed by one of the players from AIC at the championships this weekend that AIC was disqualified for having 7-8 uncipped players all of which had played last year for AIC and are undergraduates still...These players were cipped in late october and that obviously puts them far beyond the deadline...As far as this upcoming tournament goes while AIC plays at a very solid (and to this point unmatched) pace in fifteens, anyone who knows 7s knows this is a COMPLETELY different game and AIC has had one showing a couple summers ago in an open division seven's tournament that went sour fast due to lack of experience where as teams like Stony Brook and Navy are seasoned in the game and have been in 7s contention prior to this tournament...There will be fireworks for sure people and if I can make it down there I know it'll be worth the travel!

HI UB Coach - Why isn't Buffalo playing? Weren't they making a move to be included in the CRC's last year touting all their 7's credibility. Not to say you have to play in this tournament to be taken serious - just wondering if the team is looking to be a player in 7's going forward.

#6 AIC did not get a bye - they apparently forfeited their season and rights to playoff's for UNCIPP'ed and possible completely ineligible players all together. I hope the host has strict player requirements and will be checking teams eligibility - how sad is it a team trying to create a varsity model and so much university support either a) deliberatively trying to cheat or b) incapable of meeting basic paperwork and filing requirements. Not sure which is worse for a team with University backing. I have been trying to get info on AIC for weeks. What is the real story? Was hoping this news outlet would inquire and get to the bottom of this. Oh, Brockport. Hopefully the host's can find a replacement.

Agreed that Binghamton should be considered on of the top teams in the tournament. They beat UB three times this year and my hat is off to them. Absolutely a team to watch both in this tournament and going through to the D1 playoffs in the spring. They have an absolutely class back division that will punish you for any lapses in your defense. They are one to watch in this tourny.

Looks like I am proven wrong! Didn't know Binghamton had prior 7s experience. Looks like AIC will prove strong too. Looking at their videos are youtube AIC has some serious athletes. They pretty much beat up on teams this fall in the Northeast Rugby. Did they get a bye in the championships held today? Good luck to all teams. My money is on Navy to take it all.
