Regardless, to be the champ, you have to beat everybody. So, at least we're not the BCS and can actually play some knockout rugby. May the best team win! The shame is the number of seeds. If there were a way to give every team 3 seeds then great, the 12 was actually fair in number of seeds per region, but people didn't like the byes.

Disagree, each CR is apples to oranges. Any mathematicians out there? It would take some kind of weighted formula to figure out rankings.

Interesting point. Though CR3 also had 5 teams give up more than 100 points whereas the other two CRs only had 2. The averages of points against for the top 3 teams in CR are: CR1 42, CR2 63, and CR3 85.

If all of the CRs have the same number of teams and formats, why are we basing this year's ranking off of last year and not on points? I know it's not NCAA football, so there's no complicated matrix or statisticians, but there has to be a a way for teams to earn their spots every year - regardless of what someone did in their region last year. In this scenario, the Elite 8 would look like this: 1. Glendale (30pts, 312 PD) 2. ATL (30pts; 212 PD) 3. ORSU (29) 4. Seattle (25, 176 PD) 5. NOVA (25, 142 PD) 6. Austin (20) 7. North Shore (19, 128 PD) 8. Providence (19, -12PD)

Which is why CR3 should have had the 3rd seed to Nationals. It is a more competitive league. The real question is how will Elite 8 be seated next year? USA Rugby screwed it up this year and didn't give the historical most competitive region the one of the 3rd seeds. What will they do next year? They won't know who 3rd and 4th place are since they are not playing that match. How does CR3 win there seed back? Is it a challange match? Is it final seedings on the #1 and #2s from each region? My guess is USA RUGBY has no idea and they will just make it up as they go along next year.

Just to clarify that St. Louis forfeited to Glendale. Only 60 points were awarded to Glendale for the forfeit. Who knows how many points Glendale might have scored had they been able to play St. Louis outright.

For point differential, you have to think about the distribution of teams in the league. Sure, Glendale can put up a lot of points, but that also means they have teams in their league that give up a lot of points. Both St. Louis and Black Ice have allowed over 300pts to be scored against them. CR1 also has the Fog allowing many points against, 375. CR3 seems to have no teams with that kind of points against, Boston allowed half or 2/3rds of the points that these other teams allow.
