Bad Idea! What a waste of stadium time? I love Rugby 7s. But, is it worth the time showing up on day one? Don't get me wrong i watch all the rounds of my favorite team and i'm dedicated enough to spend a whole day @ Boyd Stadium. I like watching the build up from round 1 to 3 and it's cool to see the crowds come in. Now the crowds are going to be like dead in a lot of spots. NBC if there is a time conflict than send your broadcast over to Universal of VS.

Keeping NBC happy is one thing, but NBC needs to play ball as well. If they produce a crappy production with horrible announcers, then this partnership might not be worth it. NBC needs to make the program watchable, unlike the RWC Finals. America needs a "voice of rugby." Not some schmuck from the dregs of broadcasting. I would like to hear Gus Johnson call a Sevens match: http://www.gusjohnsongetsbuckets.com/

The final has to be at 2.30pm. What a load of BS! Again, and I`ll stress it. EVERY other WSS event has their Cup final in the evening. It`s not like Sunday night is the biggest primetime spot that NBC couldn`t devote to rugby if they started later as the other events do. The Wellington 7s doesn`t start till about lunchtime. And since when did ANY big sports event have its minor finals AFTER the main final!? Must be an anti-climactic feeling in the stadium! I`ve been to a number of major sporting events around the world but never one where this situation exists. The event looks like its growing and I and some NZ rugby fans would love to come and enjoy the party but LV just has to sort out the scheduling. Right now most overseas fans don`t know but as the event becomes more popular with them (and being in LV it will)this crazy schedule will come into the spotlight.

Exactly - keep NBC happy. 3 Day Party is Vegas is always a good thing. Got to be flexible with the one network in the US that even is trying to test the Rugby Market. Also, having Collegiate, Men's Cub, & Women's International matches in the Boyd/Main Stadium is great. Maybe not a big deal elsewhere in the world but a step in the right direction for us here in the USA. And if at all possible, tell Fred Grogan the wrong date & times so he won't show up at Universal Sports Studio for the USA Rugby 7s...that guy just ruins the rugby coverage on Universal..arghhhh

Simon, It's not that they haven't learned. The tournament schedule is 100% dictated by NBC. The finals MUST be played at 2:30 PM and it's simply not possible to have the quarters, semis and finals of each competition played on Sunday and have a 2:30 PM finals match. The other option is to not have the rugby shown live on an over-the-air network. So here's your choice: - Turn down the network money and national network exposure for rugby and have the same schedule as the other stops on the WSS circuit, or - Tweak the schedule in order to obtain the network money and national exposure for the sport that needs all the exposure it can get.

I was hoping that with 3 days US7s would have fixed up the crap schedule they had in place for this year`s 7s. Sadly, nothing has been learnt! When will they get it through their thick skulls that every other WSS event has their finals day including Quarter finals on the Sunday keeping most teams fans still interested coming into the last day. Again next year most teams fans at the US7s will already have their hopes for cup success vanquished before the final day even dawns. Why oh why couldn`t they just do what the most successful of 7s tournaments in the world, Hong Kong, does and just have 1 pool game on Friday, two including the big pool games on Saturday, and then all the post pool games on Sunday? I guess it`s too simple even for the idiots at US7s. I was hoping to come to LV for the 7s week from NZ. But again with the crap scheduling it really puts me off. Way to stuff things up US7s!
