Roland arrived fresh out of high school in January. He graduated high school in December of the year before. Curtis actually received an additional semester to play, not two additional years. He was able to played four and one half years given he missed an entire year with an acl injury. :}

@college10- that is exactly how it went, started in the spring, still has until the end of this fall semester. Also, JHB323, if u see how the tournament is set up, Life and Arky state are in the same pool, so only one will even get to the championship match, also teams will get to make the national tournament based on "at large" bids. So I dont see how anyone that follows american college rugby could pass up on having both Life and Arky state at the show in december.

Y'all need to learn your eligibility requirements. Players are only eligible for 5 years from the date they first enroll in college. If Evans first enrolled in college in Fall 2006, regardless of whether he was playing rugby or not yet, then he's ineligible and the Red Wolves were in the wrong. If he didn't enroll (enroll is the key, not when he started playing rugby) until Spring 2007, however, then he's fine through December.

You're right, I guess I would need to see his transcript. He has played 5 springs of college rugby, but perhaps he started in the spring semester of his freshman year and therefore is still eligible through this fall. If he plays this weekend in Tallahassee, then I will stand corrected.

Arkansas State seems like they would have had a good 7s team this weekend using eligible players. Why did they feel it necessary to play 5 time All-American Roland Evans, who used up all his eligibility. Or maybe they invoked the Curtis Huckaby rule and got him another 2 years of eligibilty?

That is why USA Rugby is having a 7's tournament in December. It is based off regional qualifying tournaments. ASU is gonna have to beat out Life U. They play at a tournament hosted by Florida State which is a qualifier. The CRC hosted in Philly is invitational based. It is for teams that are marketable and can provide an audience to fill the stands. Unfortunately, ASU is not one of those teams.
