First, I don't think that anyone is lost on the fact that AUS should and most likely will win this match. However, based on both teams current play it may be one hell of a match & closer that we all would have thought before pool play started Remember IRE's ability to put the US scrum on their back foot was the deciding factor in that match as well. By the same measure, Simon C, your comment that IRE's scrum put the Aussies on their back foot means that that the US should have less of an issue with the AUS pack - giving our backs a much better platform to play. Granted I think the AUS back-line is much stronger than Ireland's. It'll be an interesting match. I think our defense play is up to the task esp with Wyles in the line-up (who did not play against IRE). The one thing that worries me is our number of handling errors - 10 against RUS. With a bit of luck i.e. converted penalties and mistakes by AUS, I think we have a shot at the upset.

Yes Ireland`s defense was great but they also had the edge up front and had Aussie on the back foot in the scrums. It wasn`t purely a defensive display. Ireland played as much rugby as Aussie and kicked tactically very well. None of these things the US are capable of doing v Australia so stop making the comparisons.

The US offense is pretty good until we kick possession away after a couple of penetrating runs OR go to a robotic pick and drive inside the other team's 22. Sure p&d a bit to keep the honest but I like Emerick or Wyles on the burst attacking the goal a lot more...just sayin'...

The question I have is: What team plays against Ireland? If a result against Italy is something the Eagles seek then I believe giving a good number of the guys that played the first two matches a night off is not unreasonable. I may be alone in this opinion but I believe the Eagles have the ability to beat Italy. It would take an all out effort and a little good fortune but it is possible.

The Eagles are responsible for their own offensive woes. The defenses have been solid, but that is all in hindsight. Good teams create opportunities, great teams finish them. I think they need to get a little more creative in the backline. We can move the ball all over the field, we just need to poke it in. If the defense is that solid, then mix in some cross kicks to keep them honest. Let's Go Eagles! Go Manu Samoa!

Really, the teams that should thank Ireland are all the other 6 Nations squads. Now, baring a huge surprise in pool play, it is a guaranteed spot in the Final for a NH team. Vice versa, the 3 N will knock each other off...
