Not sure who this is but I did not say that about Big Mac. I think the pattern of play dictates that the forwards spread out across the field so that is why those guys are out on the wings. Every forward gave it his all with hard tackling and not backing down from anything. Were there some who are harder than others yes but you don't know what scrumming takes out of you unless you have been there. So who ever this is calling me out you are wrong. Have the guts to use your name if you are going to call me out. I don't appreciate it.

The Eagles slow-ball tactic (singular) is tooth-less. Petri has all the skills to run dynamic slow-ball options, why not have him drag with ball in hand with a big bodies crashing under and in front of him? Forwards like Louie, Mac, Todd, Biller, etc have the coordination to execute this type of slow-ball tactic. Uber slow "pick & jams" do nothing but give the opponent time to get more defenders on their feet 80% of the time. Also, let's have a forward jam it up once before we go for the box kick off kickoffs, that would prevent another blocked kick in the shadow of our own goal line...

They obviously wanted to keep Clever at 7 on defense and have him pick up the ball at the back of the scrum once Johnson was out (though they could have had Louis do that as well). I don't see why the team should avoid moving players into their best positions situationally just to follow the common practice of the same player being at the back of the scrum on attack and defense. That's like saying that your #10 has to always be the first receiver from every scrum, ruck, or maul.

[quote name="Alx Evz"]What happened to Petri, his box kicking is awful and he is not threat what so ever with the ball in hand... I'd enjoy seeing a threat at #9, someone like Don Pati. Can Tai Enosa play #9 at this level? Full disclosure: I coached Petri in HS. But I have to disagree with your analysis. His box kicks consistently gained good territory and got the ball behind their wings (with the exception of the first, obviously). I don't think he challenged the fringe defense much because the ball was slow & the game plan and situation (protecting a lead with a sound defense on a wet day) called for safety more than risk-taking (and it worked). Don Pati is a great player and a quality guy, but he is simply too inexperienced for this RWC (expect to see him in 2015 RWC & 2016 Olympics). Tai can probably play every position in the backs except #9.

What happened to Petri, his box kicking is awful and he is not threat what so ever with the ball in hand. Good support to score the try... but otherwise lackluster. Granted, he doesn't make big mistakes. His pass has a serious hitch in it. I'd enjoy seeing a threat at #9, someone like Don Pati. Can Tai Enosa play #9 at this level? What was the deal with LaValla? He came it at 8 and was then moved around with Clever taking the ball. Can he only play 8 on defense and not on attack? The RWC is not the kind of place to play that sort of game plan. Either you can play 8 or you can't.

Wyles did a nice job but I wish he would not kick 5 meters out. We had ball in hand and had overloads but decided to kick and most were bad kicks. Use your athletic ability and keep the ball in hand. Very proud of the boys to bring home a victory. I hope they can pull the upset vs Italy
