Want an easy fix for the scrum? Sit McDonald. He is grotesquely out of shape, his running is weak, and if he isn't hand rucking (assuming he even makes it in time to participate in an active ruck) then he is just flopping on the pile.

"Old age and treachery will overcome youth and exuberance avery time" Loosely it translates to experience and game time. Although not present in this WC squad I've seen Eagle props in their club games get worked by 2nd tier NPC/Currie level players for reasons mentioned above. That said, get someone that knows how to improve the front row in the set piece to HELP them for g-sakes. The guys we've got have busted their butts to get there, I take nothing away from their accomplishment. I think the stat shown in the Ireland game was that there was only a 1kg difference in pack weights, so to me its technique and experience. One is coachable the other is not.

Agree with RugbyShotta on the poor footwork. Opposing teams are already driving while the front row is getting set. And Clever also did the right thing by pointing the finger at the back row. They pop up too quick on defense AND offense. It's tough to play front row against Irishman props who started playing prop in the womb.

The good thing is that the USA addressed this issue and weakness very early on in their world cup prep and having a scrum coach at the world cup is a sign of that......hang on..... thats not the scrum coach thats the assistant manager and thats the media blogger boy there. what the F&#k do you mean we did not bring a scrum coach..... what!!! we have been through three of them in the last year!!!!! christ no wonder we are being abused in the set piece! we have the athletes, eddie O just does not give a stuff to get them the knowledge they need. well done Eddie good prep work. while other tier two nations pride them selves on learning the art of the scrum, Eddie still thinks props are just big flankers.

Bostonrugby is dead on right Chris Ostenkowski was a rock in the front row last RWC. Looking at the props as a whole, they're footwork at the engage is a bit off, besides being physically overmatched at to certain degree... I hope the fixes workout, because Russia will be much tougher than Ireland at scrumtime
