I like Mate at tighthead. The scrum has been in shambles and the scrum coach has been rotating. I think Mate can do better than Eric Fry or Shawn Pittman. This should have been obvious that we didn't have a tighthead that could scrum with the best months ago. No platform to get good ball to the backs and two turnovers to Ireland means if you could put a guy on just to win those scrums it'd be worth it. I hope they use the bench in the forwards this game. We needed fresh legs in the second half, pack was playing great but needed Lavalla in there. Go USA, GO Nic, Go Patterson

The front row against Ireland was doing its job. The second row locks, breaks need a stronger push to help the front row establish/hold their base. Locks are doing good lineout work but their push in sets must improve. Japan used the quick put-in against the US, perhaps we should also be using it on occasion.

They were a tighthead and some better lineout consistency from taking that game.. They defended well, but could not hold set piece to capitalize. The US needs to go on a tighthead search like yesterday..

I like that Wyles is back, but was hoping at outside center, not fullback. Sculley is doing fine. Must disagree with those that thought our front row did "fine." They got BEAT up front, plain and simple.

I think I agree with you about Wyles at center. Nevertheless, A. Suniula had some big runs against Russia in the last match and maybe EOS is looking for the same matchup. Same is true of Mate - he had a massive match against Russia last time out and maybe that is why he is preferd to Pittman. I would have put Mate in for Mac and kept Pittman on the field, but I'm sure we'll see Pittman come off the bench at some point.

I enjoyed watching the defensive effort the team put out on Sunday. Everyone was making tackles and it was a great team effort. I'm looking forward to more of the same with a few more offensive breaks against Russia. Good luck Eagles!
