"X-over" is just another word for MultiSport Athlete. Saying that US X-Overs are failures in another sport is like saying a Wallabie is a failure at Soccer, or an AB is a failure at Cricket. Al C is giving a mix of players a "chance": Colligate, Club, Professional, X-Pats,& X-Overs, Experienced & Youth. As a nation we are just kids in the Modern Professional Rugby Era - gonna take lots of mistakes & time.

The problem is that the "cross-over" athletes are failures in their other sports. USA Rugby says they want to get better yet have done a piss poor job at laying down the foundation to create winners. I see Belmont Shores play all the time, and if they are our standard, then we will never be competitive. USA Rugby needs to be dismantled, players will never reach their potential under this regime.

To the point of Ambrogi, he carried his team but only in scoring tries. I was in san fran, to say the rest of his team didn't have any skill is a joke. That team was stacked with players. No, not national team players like Belmont, but all marfu representitive side players. Ambrogi's role was to score tries, and his teammates put him in a position to do that by playing great defense and opening the field for him. If you look at the US we have no try scorers, so he makes perfect sense. And yes, Ambrogi did make every other wing there look average. Al should be impressed, he did his job and never tried to do to much, I think schuylkill River plays rugby the way Al wants. Obviously, at the national team level, Ambrogi's supporting cast would be better.

Johndenver, I disagree we just don't have enough good athletes playing internationally . Some guys look great on the domestic scene once they get to the series they don't come close. Not saying that Greg should not get a look he should get an invite to camp. Mike101, Boyd is over the hill. Mauer is 21 dropped a ball last year at CRC give him a break.

Ambrogi is out for another 6 to 8 weeks. He won't be in the pool for PAG but Caravelli is going to give him a shot for the camp when he is 100%. Tiberio is still out as well, Hawkins just had surgery so he will be out until January. I agree with 1823, Mike Caravelli is giving everyone who deserves it a fair shake.
