I actully agree, I dont think USA are to the standard of Australia and Ireland or even Italy at this stage, I don't actully no why you think usa could beat Ireland, they weren't 4th best team in world before world cup warm ups for being easy to beat, but I would hope that US don't sit back in games against australia and Ireland because that's the only way USA are goin to make a name for themselves in world rugby by beating the likes of these teams, my prediction would be same as john0999. Come on the Aussies

To be honest with yous I dnt think u no much about rugby if yous think on USA good day they could beat ireland, I actully had a bit of a giggle when I read that. In Churchill competions Ireland send there b team over and they still thrash USA. I honestly think your only hope of a win is against Russia because I dont think USA would be good enough to beat italy who aren't a bad team now. Italy play in six nations and the last 2 years they have improved to a stage where Ireland, France, England, wales and Scotland are finding it harder each year to beat them, my prediction wud be australia, Ireland, Italy, USA and then Russia.

I've been following up on the US team and honestly believe the current players if well coached and led on the day can beat Russia and Italy, and defeat Ireland for a deserved dogged win, or at least run them very close. The Irish are beatable and are certainly within reach of the Eagles. One thing I would like to see the forwards do is to play the Irish with a bit of mongrel, roughhouse with them, test them, then we will see what they are made of. But never go in with the B team and a defeatist attitude. I saw one USA Churchill Cup 2011 game in full and the forwards lost the battle up front in the first 20 minutes compounding problems for the backs throughout the match and their efforts lacked intensity and were simply disjointed. The 4 yearly RWC is for making a statement and the first game sets your tone for the rest of the tournament, even if you only play in the pool games. Well that’s the tier 2 attitude I’d like to see. I wish the Eagles rugby team all the best in the RWC.

Well, my perspective maybe different. But I cannot understand why USA would be just targeting Russia and looking at Italy as a possibility and completely given up on Ireland. If you paddle a canoe over shark infested seas only to land and choose to be despatched, what’s the point of going there in the first place? If it were our Pacific Island teams Tonga, Samoa, Fiji (look we are all Tier 2 nations here i.e. in the same boat) we would go hell for leather against Ireland with the A team to get the patterns going as much as possible. Run Russia to the ground, rest the core team against the Aussies, and then leave everything on the field – empty the tank as you say – against Italy to get your two wins. Do not underestimate the importance of making an impact in your first pool match. Watch the opening Tongan/All Black match on Friday and you will know what I mean. It will be a do or die attitude because the RWC is exactly that – you take your chances on the day.

I truly hope our 1st XV is out there 9/11...this is literally the 1st time in 4 years that our best 15 players have all been together, they need to be on the field.

Why all the hate? Did your teammate not make the squad? Are you a bitter old boy that complains of today's neon-colored boots? Could you HONESTLY do better on the pitch? This may seem a bit far fetched but this is sports and anything can happen; including the Eagles winning the entire World Cup! Enough with the constant complaining and doubt. Show some support...and respect! While the Eagles' World Cup record is still unknown...I'm positive that if they hosted the championship trophy at the end...then all these haters would jump on the bandwagon. GO EAGLES!!!

off-topic... is the article pic from a recent CAN-AM game? are clever's eyes closed? is that cuz he has no support? wonder if he's thinking crash ball? then again you'd still want to sidestep, create space and off load, right? which brings us back to the 1st question.
