and yet again another article and discussion re: the RSL, teams leaving, and a valid point is missed... why does the US not have a single, standard season of play where every team has equal opportunity to train, get fit, play a nice long season (that can attract sponsors), and provide an "easier" path for selectors to track players and allow players to move up or down in divisional play.

so the super league is not thriving..so what... the NFL and NBA in the early days were huge failures...was not until there filled stadiums resulted in TV money... a better option would be a mini version of the TRI Nations... Have the Glendale All stars (glendale+denve r+aspen+who ever) vs Belmont vs OMBAC.... put up big money....winner takes all... exciting stuff.... Less of the strange Euro customs...like putting on your #1 for post game meal... boring...

Speaking of which, is this a boon to the Griffins? Is there a large contingent of Lions players for whom remaining in the RSL is more important than remaining with the Lions and will switch clubs?

The Super League must go...it has now chewed up and spit out more good rugby clubs than it has helped, bleeding them dry financially. It has also eaten away at the very fiber of longstanding true rugby clubs. A reorganized Div. 1 playoff is the way for the best / true top US Rugby CLUBS to prosper. Not some fledging wanna be pseudo league of money suckers that shorten players careers.
