Mommas Basement - Word is they are trying to create traditional conferences in 7's so its more marketable which is something I would fully stand behind. The ACLR is filled with traditional teams from the ACC, The schools from the SEC have done the same thing. The Big 10 is a more marketable name than the Midwestern conference. And if the PAC12 schools formed some sort of Pacific conference I would think that would be more marketable than what's out there now as well. I dont think there is anything wrong with have two separate formats for Sevens and 15's

I would hope that the Big 10 champ would get an invite to the CRC 7s, but not to a USA Rugby 7s event. This is not a USA Rugby conference, so why would they take a seed away from other conferences that are? Also, would some teams have an opportunity to play in 2 tournaments to qualify if this were the case? Example: Can Cal qualify via the Pac-12, and also the NorCal conference tourney? How is that equitable? I love the idea of NCAA Conf tourneys, and I think they should be rewarded with an invite to the CRC 7s in Philly, but they shouldn't be mixed in with a USA Rugby sponsored event.
