BG, Glad to hear the time issue is being discussed. It is a huge pet peeve of mine. Stalling goes against the spirit of the game and cheats not only the teams, but also the fans. If coaches are shooting for a 45 second window between the try and kickoff, I'd like to see teams penalized if they cannot attempt the conversion and have the kickoff within that window. Perhaps a free kick at midfield? I bet that would fix the problem real fast.

He should be worrying about how he is going to keep his job if he doesn't win gold in the PanAm games, not worrying about how to change the rules of 7s. Im sure he'll have plenty of IRB input when he is appointed the new OMBAC 7s coach in December! What a joke.

"fans be allowed a non-binding vote on the call?" Never thought I would see the day when I would have to hit the "info" button on my remote to tell whether I was watching American Idol or a 7s match.

This is not the proposal Al made. He told me about it. It revolves around TMO for 7s. He told me that if a ref can't decide on the call in the try zone, then the ref would have 40 secs to look at the big screen to make a decision. Same with a coach challenging the call it has to be in 40secs. If not the call stands. What "interesting" writes, all the coaches want 45 secs between when a try is scored and the team getting ready for the kick off.

I'm generally Caravelli fan, but this would change to many of the good things about 7s. TMO review for tries is fine, and I agree with the poster who suggests the clock stop at try time, but coaches throwing flags on the field would ruin the whole thing. BAD IDEA.

In 15's the ref has the ability to to take a look at a replay on a close try, let them have that ability in 7's. Don't give the coaches the opportunity to toss a flag, and slow down the game. The whole purpose of 7s is to keep things moving and play at a fast pace. I think Al's spent too much time with his NFL/football boys on this one. The idea of fan voting/watching replay at a stadium is fine, as long as the actual game keeps moving.
