I agree with the author. It's time to return to a classic look that will last decades. It's also a great maarketing tool and will set us apart from the competition with their mediocre looking jerseys that have no distinguishing features.

The funny thing about this editorial is that the hooped jersey came into being in 1996...it is not the "classic" jersey. The classic jersey is red with two small stripes on one arm, one stripe being white the other being blue. Look at any Eagles picture from 1980-1996 and this is the jersey they are wearing. That being said, I do like the hooped jersey as well.

I will first note that I have generally been a fan of the recent blue jerseys, especially when they've had the USA 7s logo on the front (I love the shield). However, I cannot disagree with the opinion of this article. I would love to see the Red, White, and Blue if for no other reason than to never see the Evil Knievel chevron again or even the blue flag jersey from the Russia win. When the flag jersey was first posted on facebook, I noted then, as I note now, it looks way too rugby league for my taste.

The jerseys for the Churchill were the last straw, it's almost as if the folks at CCC were implementing their "let's f*** with the Yanks" policy. I agree there should be an established Eagles kit brand. I also wonder why, in an era when replica kit sales are such a good revenue driver, why does the USA national team not have a well branded, well publicized, good selling jersey? There's a demand for it, both in the US and overseas. I've traded tons of USA rugby kit with overseas rugby people, they love the idea of having USA Rugby kit. Someone, as always, seems to be missing out on something....

Canterbury is selling the striped polo that the coaches and players wear. I'd love to see that in a jersey. Not that we'd ever compete against them, but I believe South Korea and the Philippines have similar striped jerseys.

So the solids are taken, big deal. Argentina uses a hooped jersey, and everyone knows what it is. We should go back to red, white, and blue -- and own it before someone else does. Who else could own it - Russia

I wholeheartedly agree that we need to go back to something classic. I love the hoops. I also liked the simple jerseys of the 1987 World Cup (solid red or white with the white&blue or red&blue stripes on one sleeve). The chevron is horrible. The ones they wore for the bowl final were insane. I'm all for classic. Please bring back something classic...
