| AUCKLAND - All 48 matches of Rugby World Cup 2011 will be available live on television to fans in Antarctica, Rugby World Cup Limited (RWCL) has announced.
The remote Scott Base has a winter population of 13 New Zealanders, an Australian and an Irishman and they will benefit from RWC being broadcast into the Antarctic for the first time.
A live encrypted feed will be made available free of charge by Rugby World Cup 2011 Rights Holder TVNZ to ensure that every pass, tackle and try is available to view.
“We are delighted that Rugby World Cup 2011 is going to reach Rugby fans in Antarctica and that they will be able to join the global Rugby community in enjoying the Rugby World Cup experience,” said RWCL Chairman Bernard Lapasset.
Mike Mahon, Antarctica NZ, IT Administrator, added: “The crew here, and our friends from the nearby US McMurdo Station, are definitely looking forward to cheering on the teams at what promises to be a superb Rugby World Cup.”
RWC 2011 will be broadcast in more than 200 territories worldwide, more than any previous Rugby World Cup tournament.

| CNN gave rugby a little love recently, as a story by Ashley Strickland made their website. Strickland looks at American rugby, and particularly college rugby, through the eyes of different programs and players, focusing largely on the state of Georgia. Cal's Jack Clark is quoted, and the piece paints a good picture of the hurdles facing college rugby in America.

| The new Conan in Conan the Barbarian looks like a rugby player, and is indeed a big fan. The 6-5, 225 lb Jason Momoa was born in Hawaii.
The guy who also plays warlord Khal Drogo in HBO's Game of Thrones says he turned down a soccer scholarship because he wanted to climb mountains and snowboard.
Momoa's great uncle, Buffalo Keaulana, is one of surfing's living legends. His uncle, Brian Keaulana, worked ona surfing movie that attracted Momoa back to Hawaii.
He surfs, has been ice climbing in Canada, Tibet, Japan, China, Italy and France. He lived in Australia for several years, and became an ardent fan of the All Blacks, and even flew to Ireland just to see them play. So not a rugby player, just a fan ... but maybe nobody's asked ...
