| The success of the Heineken Cup, which made €50 million last year, has prompted a group to look into a broader competition with a larger TV market. The idea is to bring the best eight non-national teams from all over the world in a sort of Champions League.
The Guardian is reporting that rugby teams from France, England and South Africa are looking into creating a sort of global breakaway rugby competition.

| According to a report by the BBC, London Irish is considering going to Boston to play a match on American soil.
Club CEO Andy Martin picked Boston because of its heavily Irish population, and said, “you can imagine the scene. Fenway Park in Boston full of Irish people, hopefully with some of the fans from here going across to watch us playing an Italian side in the Heineken Cup."
Martin said his club is just playing with the idea.

| Such a sad sight, as Dan Carter does what every elite athlete hates to do - just watch. The injured New Zealand star will have to hope the All Blacks bring the Webb Ellis trophy home without him.
Said Carter about his injury, "It is pretty gut-wrenching and I'm disappointed with what happened but I have to get over that. It was a pretty tough night knowing that my dream was over, something I worked so hard for was over."
