Life Victory Sets Up Showdown
Colleges - Men's DI College

Life University moved to 2-1 in the DI-A Mid-South with a 41-24 defeat of Davenport University Saturday in Marietta, Ga.

Life got an early lead when Gershon Blaise touched down, but the Panthers replied with a penalty goal and a try to lead 8-5.

The teams traded scores through the first half, with Life retaking the lead at 12-8, Davenport edging closer at 12-11, and then Glen Maricelli scored his second try in succession to give Life a bit of a cushion at 22-11.

A Paris Hollis try put the Running Eagles up 29-14 and seemingly in control, but Davenport roared back to come within a try at 29-24.

But in the closing minutes Joe Cowley and Colton Cariaga scored tries for Life to put the game away 41-24.

The result ended Davenport’s DI-A season with an 0-4 record as they have had to wade through a supremely tough competition against Life and Arkansas State.

The conference now comes down to Arkansas State at Life next week. Life can finish 1st with a win. If they get no bonus point, they need to hold ASU to no bonus points. If Life wins with a bonus point, they can afford to have Arkansas State win with a bonus point.

Arkansas State can clinch 1st with two bonus points, a tie, or a victory.
