BYU scrumhalf Shaun Davies scored 40 points from two tries, two penalties, and 12 conversions as the Cougars romped over a hard-working UCLA team 103-24 in Saturday's D1-A quarterfinal in Provo, Utah.

UCLA Head Coach Scott Stewart said before the game that the team wanted to play hard, tough rugby and wanted to compete and step up to the challenge. In many ways they did, especially in a period in the second half when, down 51-7, they rallies for three tries to get 24 points for the day.

But by then BYU had the game well in hand. Davies kicked penalties in the early going, and then scampered in for a try to give his side a 13-0 lead. Flanker Hynie Leaaetoa collected a try, and then Davies got his second and just like that BYU led 27-0.

BYU took a 44-point lead into the break, and while UCLA matched them try for try in the next 20 minutes, the final quarter was all Cougars, with wing Will Taylor getting two and back Malosi Te'o and flanker Braden Bair also scoring to make it 103-24.

BYU now travels to Marietta, Ga. to play Life University, which won 75-3 over Penn State today.
