Partway through the first half of their game with Colorado, BYU clinched 1st place in the D1-A West, when they scored their fourth try of the match.

That single bonus point ensured Utah would not catch the Cougars even if they lost against CU. As it was, there was no danger of that. BYU thumped the Buffaloes 99-12, while Utah were as dominant against Wyoming 97-14.

So BYU and Utah are, no surprise, 1-2 in the West.

BYU will host St. Mary's in the quarterfinals, while Utah travels to UCLA.
