Cal Sweeps in SoCal Trip
Colleges - College DI-A

The University of California finished its two-match weekend with a 62-7 win over Claremont Colleges on Linde Athletic Field on Sunday. Outside center Sean Gallinger scored three of the Golden Bears' nine tries and flyhalf Alex Aronson connected on 7-of-9 conversions.

Eleven underclassmen saw playing time as Cal made 14 full changes to the starting lineup following Saturday's win over UCLA. Sophomore lock Brendan Daly was the sole returner from the starters against the Bruins.

Claremont fullback Evan Nigh missed two first-half penalty kicks, from 30 and 35 meters, while the Bears scored five tries and added a penalty kick to take a 34-0 halftime lead. In the second half, Dragons flyhalf Ben Eachus averted the shutout when he scored a try for the home team in the 66th minute, converted by Nigh.

The Bears (21-0, 5-0) played with 14 players for portions of the match for a second straight day, this time for yellow cards that were drawn against both teams. Cal was able to repel the Dragons during the first sin binning, but Claremont scored its try during its second one-man advantage.
