St. Mary's defeated Cal Poly 57-17 in a game that the Gaels circled as a possible tripping-up point. One of only two undefeated teams in the College Premier Division Pacific Conference, St. Mary's ran out to a 30-0 lead and held on fromt htere. Outside center scored three tries and wing Jake Holguin and inside center Mike Haley scored two each. "It was a nice overall performance," said St. Mary's Head Coach Tim O'Brien. "But we need to be far, far more precise in the weeks ahead. Cal Poly had a great start to the fourth quarter of play which we didn't respond well to." Cal Poly's 17 points more than doubled the St. Mary's points against total for the season. Also 4-0 is California, which scored exactly 100 against UCLA, and will be pleased with the shutout. Wings James McTurk and Dustin Muhn scored three tries each for the Bears, who are averaging 86 points a game. Central Washington moved to 3-1 and set up their clash with St. Mary's in two weeks. But CWU weren't dominant as they struggled to put away UC Davis 36-25. Central once again got some good goalkicking from Ryan Hamilton to help them through. Also in the Pacific, on Sunday Cal takes on Claremont Colleges. Currently the CPD Pacific Standings look like this:
