The US Naval Academy get back into the swing of the D1-A season after a successful tour of the Basque France and Spain.

The Midshipmen finished the trip 2-1. They beat the University of Barcelona 42-5, and Basque country club team St. Jean De Luz 26-17. In Their final match they played a team from Dax, whose 1st XV is currently 2nd in the Pro D2 in France.

Dax led 19-17 at halftime and, after Navy ran on a large number of young subs, expanded that lead to 40-17.

The Midshipmen spent time with French Top 14 Toulouse and Biarritz, training and learning. Head coach Mike Flanagan said Eagle Takudzwa Ngwenya was a great host for Biarritz, and that several Midshipmen were excited to meet him.  

He also called the trip "a hugely successful tour." This despite the fact he didn't bring the RUGBYMag.com staff back any ham.
