Florida State Hosts Life Saturday
Colleges - Men's DI College

The Life Running Eagles, in the midst of preparation for the CRC Qualifier in Las Vegas next month, are traveling to Tallahassee, Fla. Friday for a 15s friendly with Florida State.

The Seminoles, 2-0 in South Independent Rugby Conference play, have played a tough preseason slate, which comes to a crescendo against Life.

“That’s a litmus test for us, see where we’re at,” FSU coach Kirk Swanner said.

Florida State also managed the fall Florida Cup season and a friendly against LSU, giving them one of the better non-conference schedules of all DI-AA teams.

“A little tough with the travel, but we’re definitely trying to, every year, get a couple of really good games in,” Swanner added.

Florida State is a building program that, despite going through a few coaches in the last year, is inching toward a prominent place in the college rugby landscape. Part of Swanner’s formula to getting there is giving his players the best chance to make an age-grade team.

With U20 coach Scott Lawrence on the staff at Life, Friday’s game will provide an opportunity for some Seminoles to not only test themselves against one of the best college programs in the country, but be seen.
