Brother v. Brother
Colleges - College DI-A

St. Mary's hosted UCSB this Saturday in a day of much rugby.

Mike Geib photoSt. Mary's played four matches on the day, one against Cal Maritime, and then three against A B and C sides from UC Santa Barbara.

But also of interest were the captains of the two top sides. Lock Ryan Cooke led UCSB against his older brother, Andrew Cooke, front-rower and captain of St. Mary's.

On at least one occasion the referee had to summon the brothers together to get their teams to calm down in a highly-charged match. One can imagine both pointing to the other and claiming "he started it!"

The two teams battled in a tough match. St. Mary's led 15-5 at halftime, but broke through with a pile of tries in the final minutes - in classic St. Mary's fashion - to win 46-5.
