USA Rugby has announced the bulk of the playoff locations for its spring college playoffs. On the women's side, the Southeast location for the DI and DII regionals has not yet been determined and the National Championship site has not yet been announced. On the men's side, the DI-AA and DII final fours will be hosted at Bowling Green State University's soccer stadium. The regional pairings were devised by the College Competitions Committee before the locations were identified by staff at USA Rugby's national office, which lends some explanation to why the winner of the Keystone Conference will travel to Wisconsin for its championships while a regional is being hosted squarely in the conference's footprint in Pittsburgh. Another puzzling regional has the winner of three West Coast competitions traveling to Austin, Texas. The Women's College Competitions Committee made a bold move by expanding, potentially, the DII playoff field to 32. The committee will set the play-in games in a manner that allows the visiting team a reasonable drive to the match, according to the email announcing the playoff structure. At-Large selections will be filled by deserving teams from a pool of independent and/or deserving runners-up. Not all at-large slots will necessarily be filled. Some teams may receive an automatic berth directly into the Regionals due to geographic isolation/distance from potential play-in opponents.
