Ayden, NC – CMI Plastics, Inc. and their organization, Victory for a Cause (VFC), have partnered with Pediatric Cancer Foundation of Lehigh Valley, Inc. (PCFLV) and Kutztown Men’s Rugby, in an effort to fight childhood cancer.

To kick off the efforts, and in honor of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, a Victory For A Cause Presentation Ceremony was held on October 27 on the Kutztown campus.

During the 2011-2012 Rugby Season, KU’s combined record for all three teams was 38-6, and for every victory the team earned $100 to the 2011-2012 Champions and PCFLV.

“This past year has been a wonderful experience for everyone involved.” says Steven Hasselbach, President of CMI Plastics.  “It is amazing to see how the young men of the rugby team have accepted these children into their lives.”

VFC and PCFLV share in their goal of helping families fight childhood cancer. PCFLV uses a number of ways to raise money and improve the lives of these children. PCFLV provides a full calendar of programs which focus on quality life and long-term survivorship for children with cancer including a chemo circus program at the local hospitals, caregiver events such as spa days and date nights, support services and sibling support groups as well as education and recreational activities to focus on fine and gross motor skills.

VFC supports the cause by partnering with athletic teams to raise money to fight childhood cancer. By sponsoring athletic teams such as Kutztown Rugby, VFC is able to spread awareness to a larger group of people including the athletes, the fans and the families of Kutztown Rugby. Then, with every victory the sponsored team wins, in this case, Kutztown Rugby, CMI will put one hundred dollars towards sponsoring a child with cancer. The sponsored children are known as VFC Champions, and at the end of the sponsor team’s season, the Champion and/or charity of choice are presented with the donation.
